The Marion Easter Pageant Board of Directors and
the City of Marion is hosting this joint press conference for the
purpose of disclosing information about the 2004 Marion Easter
Pageant. The Marion Easter Pageant Board of Directors has received a
letter from Mayor Seybold in regards to heating the Marion Memorial
Coliseum for 2004 Marion Easter Pageant performances. The letter
explains that the City of Marion has diligently researched heating
sources for the Memorial Coliseum and the estimated cost of heating
and providing restroom facilities for the Memorial Coliseum for the
period that we would need use of the facility is $28,000.00.
After reviewing the proposal and giving the entire situation much
prayer, the Marion Easter Pageant Board of Directors voted unanimously
that the burden of heating the Coliseum should not fall squarely on
the shoulders of the City of Marion and that the Marion Easter Pageant
was not financially able to assist in this cost, therefore the 2004
Marion Easter Pageant performances would be suspended.
The Marion Easter Pageant is a tradition in the
City of Marion and the Board of Directors looks forward to the time
when we will resume the performances in the near future.
The Marion Easter Pageant is excited about the possibility of the YMCA
making the Marion Memorial Coliseum its home.
